Travel Essentials by the Traveling Roses

Going on vacation but are dreading the MUST DO packing task? Fear no more, here are some tricks to help you pack right and pack light whether you are going on a long or short trip.

Thanks to the Muses App I have partnered up with PurseN; they have travel cases for all your packing needs and will help you stay extremely organized.

So here are my tips that will help you master the skill of packing, or in my case the “day before packing saga”.

1. Make a checklist of all the items you need for your trip. Make sure to list the most common forgotten items, like socks, toothpaste, sunscreen, etc.

2. Plan and try on your outfits, this will help ensure you don’t overpack and that you are bringing items you are actually going to use.  Always great if you can bring items you can re-wear.

3. Roll don’t fold – lay two or three items on top of one another and roll them up to save space and prevent wrinkles.

4. Keep your shoes seperate. I love the “Shoe Organizer”, it’s perfect as it makes sure my shoes are in place and are not messing up my clothes. I try to simplify how many shoes I bring to help save space. Depending on the trip I usually pack comfy sandals, flip-flops and a pair of sneakers.

5. Take some plastic bags with you to place your dirty items. If you won’t have the chance to do laundry this will help with separating your clean and dirty clothes. (Use a dryer sheet inside your luggage to keep clean clothes smelling fresh).

I always prefer bringing a carry on luggage and one of the biggest challenges is bringing with me all my favorite travel products. Most airlines have restrictions that you can only bring liquids under 3.4 ounces.

To solve this issue:

6. Buy travel size containers for your toiletries and fill them up with some of your favorite products.  My favorite product is the                                       portable mini refillable perfume spray bottle that allows me to bring my favorite perfume.

And of course a girl can’t leave home without all her go to makeup items!

“The Lexi” is the perfect case for all my makeup! The inside front flap has a pocket that fits my pallets perfectly. The zipper pockets are connected  with a 2 ring system, reminds me of a binder and allows me to remove the pouches for easy access. The back flap has little slots to hold my  brushes. Love how organized it keep my face products and makeup.

Let’s not forget to pack our accessories….“The Tiara Mini Jewelry Case” is perfect for all of my jewelry packing needs. The pouches are attached to the bottom of the case so they can’t fall out, but can be removed if needed.

Don’t forget to leave some space for souvenirs!! Now head over to PurseN and use my code “Rosa25” for 25% off your order. Thank you PurseN for sponsoring this post.

They offer a travel case for all your needs. So make sure to take advantage of my coupon code as there is nothing that compares to this product.

So where are you headed on your next adventure?

Beautiful Souls – @savedclassyandchic

Anita Ford is the author behind Saved Classy and Chic. Below is her Muses guest post on having a beautiful soul –

I believe beauty radiates from the inside. A beautiful heart that is filled with compassion and love is most beautiful to me. But, somehow our world has shaped many minds into thinking that beauty on the outside is all that truly matters.

The world wants you to feel like you are no more than….

Your size

Your looks

Your failures

Your marital status

Your occupation

Your past mistakes

Your social status

The number you see on the scale

Your education

And, your income

When you wake up each morning and you look in the mirror, my hope is that you will always see a beautiful reflection looking back at you. Often times, it takes years for some people to realize just how valuable they are. Your past doesn’t determine your future. We all experience trials and tribulations, but you can’t let a temporary situation knock you down for the count. The next time you feel as if you’re not enough always remember, you are a gem.

There comes a point in your life when you have to remind yourself that you are whole. You have to tell yourself that you are beautiful inside and out. You are smart. You are strong. You are kind. And, most of all you are loved.. Just the way you are.

There are two important facets when it comes to living a beautiful life: First, facilitate an environment condusive to others feeling valued and loved. We are on this earth to recognize talents and abilities in others. Allow people to flourish in their gifts without fear of them taking your spot. If you have the ability to help someone, help them. Second you must be secure in yourself. Your light shines when you encourage others to pursue their dreams.

3 of the greatest things you could ever do for others is to-Empower, Inspire and Encourage them to live their best life. There’s more than enough room for everyone to win.

How I Built A Wellness Business Based On My Passion – Carissa Davis

Carissa Davis is the author behind 1dayat-atime, below is her Muses guest blog post on her journey to building a business on mindfulness –

It was the beginning of this year that I decided I was going to begin building my own wellness business. I decided I was no longer going to work 40+ hours a week making a little over minimum wage. I knew there was something more for me so I decided to check out blogging.

I began my search and realized there was so much to it. Branding, logos, social media, affiliate marketing, influencing, monetizing, WordPress, the list goes on…

I felt like I was drowning in a to-do list…

But that is when I realized that since this is going to be my new business, I need to treat it like a business.

So, I began with the correct mindset. Without it, I wouldn’t be where I am today with my business.

Having the correct mindset is important for success in life. If I didn’t have it then I don’t know how I would’ve made it through the first two months of growing my brand.

I know things can get scary throughout the start-up of a business. I learned that I must take risks and get out of my comfort zone. In order, to be lead to bigger opportunities and to grow.

I then had to sit down and think about what I wanted to do with this wellness business. I have many interests in topics but decided that I will focus on personal development. Since I have a passion for this, I made my goal to help others improve themselves each day. Within my wellness business, I came up with ideas on how to challenge my readers to strive to become the best individuals that they can be.

Get out there!

My next step was to get out there. People were not just going to search “” on there own so I had to figure out a way to get them there. I did this by posting on social media, starting an email list, and then joining muses to begin collaborating with brands! By using these different ways to get my company name out there has really had a strong effect on it.

I have seen my analytics and internet presence grow so much over this time. Especially since I started using muses since my audience was expanded from other brands as well!

Even though I am still new to this business and have only done this for a couple months. I can totally share with you that it is such a big passion of mine. I am so excited to see where this wellness business goes and where it brings me!

Another way that I am going to be growing my wellness business and brand is by doing an upcoming giveaway! I will be giving away products to a certain winner that participates in the drawing. So keep an eye out on my instagram 1dayatatime_insta, so that you don’t miss it!

How to Pitch to Brands as an Influencer

There are many ways you can pitch a brand through various platforms and contacts you gather on the internet. For this post, we will share a way that is more creative and built on the idea of human relationships. It is important to remember that behind each screen (mobile/desktop/tablet), is a human being, and we believe the best way to connect with another individual is to establish a relationship with them.

Say you want to pitch a travel brand and have already sent an email to their general mailbox. Here are other steps you can try:

  1. Go to LinkedIn, search for the “Social Media Manager” or “Marketing Manager” or “Influencer Relationships Manager” or “PR Manager” for that brand.
  2. Once you find the person, look them up on Instagram, and start engaging with them. This means reply to their stories from time to time, like their photos and leave a few genuine comments on their posts.
  3. The secret here is not to be too aggressive in the beginning, ease into your engagement, and slowly build a relationship with the brand manager on a personal level.
  4. After engaging with them a few weeks or months (yes sometimes it can take months depending on the individual), pitching them hopefully would become a natural conversation.

This method is not for everyone of course, it takes a lot of time and not everyone is comfortable with building a personal relationship online. However, after talking with many influencers who have gotten amazing contacts and brand deals, we’ve spotted a common theme: aiming to build a long term relationship over a quick transactional one makes your chances of getting a deal that much easier.

Email Pitch to Brands – When You Have a Small Following

If you’re wondering if you can pitch to brands when you have a small following (< 10K followers), the answer is yes. However, your chances of getting a brand campaign all depends on your content quality and audience. Here’s what we mean:

Generally, you should feel confident to start sending brand pitch emails once you’ve hit 1,000 followers on any social media platform. We will get to the templates a little later, first, let’s make sure your content is “brand-friendly”. What this means is checking:

  • Is your instagram feed aesthetically consistent? Does it follow a succinct look-and-feel? For example, Marianna Hewitt has one of the most consistent feeds (everything is pale-pink and nude-ish). She talks about how she edits her photos and keep a consistent feed in this video.

  • Is what you post about relevant to the brand? Does your content share the same category as the brand e.g. food, fashion, travel, etc.
  • Do you have the right engagement rate? Typically you want to have at least 3% engagement rate. If you have 10,000 followers and have 300 likes/comments per post, that’s 3% engagement rate.
  • Do you have the right audience? If the brand is looking for customers female 18 – 34, but your followers/audience is majority male, that would not be the best fit, unless you can show that your female audience is super engaged through likes, comments and story views.
  • How old is your account? If you have a brand new account, it maybe a tougher sell to brands as most would like to see at least 50 posts on Instagram, which shows that you’ve established a consistent footing on that platform with your followers.
  • What are your Instagram Story views? Do you have lots of people commenting and asking you questions when you post to stories? These are metrics other people cannot see as only the account owner can see how many views a story gets.

Ok, everything said above is what you’ll want to highlight in a brand pitch email if the answers are positive. Since you have a smaller following, it is imperative to focus on the amazing work you’ve done for your content and thus cultivated a super engaged audience who will of course love your branded content.

Here’s a pitch template for free product:

Hi <brand representative>!

I’m Claire from @blogname and I absolutely love your brand. I am reaching out because I am planning a few trips for the Summer, and I would love to wear your <product name> on my trip to London. I think the <product name> will look amazing with the Buckingham Palace as backdrop. My followers are 70% women ages 25 – 34 who are fashion and travel enthusiasts. You can see their engagements on my recent posts: <link to post> and <link to post>.

I will also be creating a few story posts throughout the day when I wear <product name>. I will tag your brand in everything and use the hashtag you designate.

Please let me know your thoughts. I would love to work with you!

If you don’t hear back in a few days, feel free to followup. If still nothing, no sweat, move on! Many influencers send 10, 20, 50+ brand pitch emails a day. Don’t take anything personal and keep your head-up as rejections are part of the journey. Checkout how Muses can help grow your social media audience while you practice pitching! Best of luck beauties! x
